Dating rule divide by 2 add 7
Half your age plus seven rule states "never date anyone under half your age plus 7" also meaning that "no one under 14 years of age should date".
Blogging, however, could end up spilling the beans. I’m 28 so the youngest I could date by this standard is 21 (28/2=14 7=21). I think I have to agree with the most popular answer. Of course, the caveat is that you have to be comfortable dating the person.
According to this rule, it would not be creepy for a 30 year old to date a 22 year-old, but an 18 year-old would be off-limits.
Although this is a fun rule of thumb, what does research say about age preferences for potential mates?
If you look at studies now you'll see that women have an average 9 year age range either side of their own with a preference for a small 4 years either side of their own age.
Now that we don't need to do that we're going for younger men.
An interesting fun dating age range calculator to find out minimum and maximum dating age of person whom you wish to date.
As per "Half Your Age Plus 7" relationship rule, the age of the younger person you date should not be less than half the age of the older person plus 7 years; and the age of the older person you date should not be more than your age minus 7 and doubled it.
I came up with this: The distance between y = x and the asymptote is about 10 years, meaning a 40 year old can date a 33 year old, but a 50 year old can only date a 40 year old. I mean, I agree that the forumla is flawed, but I disagree on where the flaws start.
I think the flaws start well out of what normal human lifespan is.. If someone who's 110 wants to date someone who's 62, I'm sure as fuck not going to stop them.
