Objective of this study was to identify different components of lipids in relation to type of stroke i.e., cerebral ischemia or cerebral hemorrhage.
Materials: An observational study was conducted to determine differences in serum lipid levels among individuals suffering different types of stroke.
Patients presenting to Victoria Hospital casualty with symptoms of stroke were subjected to CT scan to determine the type of stroke and Lipid profile [Serum lipid levels: LDL, HDL and total cholesterol (TC); and triglycerides (TG)] was estimated.
Observations: Total of 276 patients with documented stroke attending emergency room of Victoria hospital were included in the study after they satisfied inclusion criteria.
Of the 227 total patients, 71.73% (198) were male patients.
Total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL was found to be higher in ischemic stroke compared to hemorrhagi c stroke.
Right hemiparesis with UMN type facial weakness was also noted.A study of clinical profile of intracranial bleed Jayesh Mahale, Shital Rathod, Vijay Gaikwad Dr.Shankarrao Chavan, Govt Medical College, Nanded Introduction: Primary intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), i.e.spontaneous extravasation of blood into the brain parenchyma, begins very suddenly and is a medical catastrophe. Aims and Objectives: The present study was conducted to find clinical parameters, laboratory findings, C. scan findings and outcome in patients presenting with intracranial bleed and also to correlate presence of hypertension and intracranial bleed in these patients.Despite a large amount of clinical interest and numerous prior studies, it remains unclear how often patients with clinical acute stroke upon initial evaluation have intracranial hemorrhage on their screening head C. Material and Methods: The present observational study was conducted in the Department of Medicine of Government Medical College, Nanded from January 2009 and June 2010.Conclusions: High levels of total cholesterol, LDL, and triglycerides were associated with occurrence of atheromatous cerebral infarction, while low levels of total cholesterol and high levels of triglycerides are linked with occurrence of cerebral hemorrhage.A case of sturge weber syndrome S Balamurugan, S Sureshkanna, SR Subramanian, S Sudhaselvi Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College, Salem Introduction: Sturge Weber Syndrome also named as encephalotrigeminal angiomatosis is a sporadically occurring neurocutaneous syndrome.Patients admitted in Medicine wards and ICU were studied.
